Welcome to Heritage Hills, we are glad you’re here! We are the Brown family and Heritage Hills is what we call our homestead and all the adventures that come with it. Our Wirehaired Pointing Griffons are the reason we moved, got some land (and a pond) so they could live their best life every day!

We didn’t set out to build a kennel, it started shortly after we got married, during the pandemic and feeling like something was missing in our life. So I suggested (demanded) we get a dog. In researching breeds that would fit our lifestyle we landed on Griffons. My husband is a Southern Iowa native and avid hunter. I wanted someone who would cuddle with me, watch true crime and encourage me to go on walks as often as I should. That’s when we found Gus – and he completely stole our hearts. It wasn’t long after that we decided he’d be more happy with a friend and through Griffology, a great Facebook resource if you’re not already a member, we found Gertrude that next spring.

From there, the rest is history! We moved to Iowa, had some babies and have loved having them with us along the way. The babies as our kids call the pups are a great project for us every year and it’s been amazing to see the kids grow, train and love them all as much as we do.

We set out to know the families we are helping complete, understand their lifestyle and ensure proper placement of the animals. We love the updates as they all grow and develop, and it’s extra special when we get to visit them down the line.
